Related Technical Instruction (RTI)

AVTEC’s Related Technical Instruction (RTI) provides essential training materials to apprentices to aid them as they progress through the various levels of a registered apprenticeship program. The mission of RTI is to provide third-party testing online to students throughout the State of Alaska who could not otherwise receive the apprenticeship.

What Does an Apprenticeship Offer?

For Apprentices:

  • The opportunity to earn as you learn
  • Wages that increase along with your skills
  • Increased marketability and job security
  • Personal satisfaction and pride of workmanship
  • Assurance that your training and certifications will meet industry standards

For Employers:

  • The opportunity to recruit and develop a skilled workforce
  • Improved productivity and profitability
  • Flexible training options to ensure employees are learning relevant skills
  • Increased employee retention

Enrollment

Enrollment is open throughout the year. To enroll in a course, an apprentice must submit:

  • An application
  • A proctor agreement (see below)
  • Payment for tuition, tests, and the application fee upfront

Apprentices have one calendar year to complete the coursework. If additional time is needed, apprentices may request a one-time six-month extension for $150. This request must be made prior to the scheduled completion date.

Apprentices who fail to complete the coursework in the allotted time or request an extension will be withdrawn from the program. Withdrawn apprentices may re-enroll at any time, paying the full tuition for the corresponding year and the application fee, and will receive another calendar year to complete the program.
